Aidan's Adoption Update

Just thought we'd update you on our journey to Aidan. We received our official acceptance document from China on Jan. 6th and sent it back right away. Now we wait a month or so for our travel invitation which includes our U.S. consulate appointment. Then, if all goes well we will travel in March. That's the best guess from our adoption agency. So, in the meantime, we keep busy getting his room ready, reading lots of books/websites/blogs on toddler adoption/cleft palate issues/attachment issues. Lily is very excited to bring Aidan home, she is really looking forward to being a big sister. In fact today she drew up her own adoption paperwork, called it her "China report" and said it would help for Aidan's adoption. It was so precious. We'll keep you posted, especially when we get the travel dates.

Chaos in the Creche

Lily has a kid friendly nativity set that she can touch and handle. We added figures to the creche in the days leading up to Christmas. Baby Jesus was added on Christmas Eve, and today being Epiphany we added the Wise Man (the set only came with one). As you can see, things didn't go so well. The Wise Man knocked Joseph over, with Mary looking on aghast. The shepherd looks anxious to go tell it on the mountain. The Baby Jesus somehow climbed up to the top of the inn. The only one doing their job is the angel, who still seems to be singing "Gloria in excelsis Deo."

Sledding...or is it "bucketing"?

We'll eventually get this kid properly outfitted. One thing at a time. This year it was mittens. Next year it'll be a sled. In the meantime, a plastic washbasin had to suffice. Here we go, down the driveway.
